The Peer Tutoring Program offers free tutoring to NIC students. Click on the link below to access the current semester's schedule which is updated each semester by the beginning of school: You can get your questions answered by the math faculty member scheduled at the time. It is generally staffed from 8 - 3, beginning the second week of the semester. The Math Study Center is a table located in the College Skills Center in LKH. Full-time math faculty staff the table to provide “drop-in” help. It would be better to hand in what your have then take a 0 on the assignment. Please note that the instructor is not obligated to allow late/makeup homework/projects. Homework that is not turned in by the due date will be given a 0. Some assignments may involve groups and group presentations or individual projects. The labs that accompany the text as well as other assignments requiring the use of computers will be the bulk of homework for this class. Keeping up with reading and attending class is the best bet for doing well on quizzes. Please note that the instructor is not obligated to allow makeup quizzes. Missed quizzes will be given a “0” (zero) and can not be made up. Do not count on your short term memory to do well on quizzes.

Typically, you will have 10 to 15 minutes at the end of class to do the quiz. Quizzes may, or may not, be announced and can cover reading, lecture or lab material and will usually be worth 10-25 points. Test items will come from the textbook, lectures, assignments and labs. Please note that the instructor is not obligated to allow any makeup tests. No make up tests will be given unless a prior excuse has been accepted by the instructor before the exam is taken. Testing on computers is part of the course content and provides a valuable opportunity to evaluate the benefits and drawbacks to the pervasive nature of computers in our world today. Tests are generally taken on computers and consist mostly of multiple choice. Test dates will be announced approximately 3 class days prior to the exam. Tentative arrivals of exams are shown on the course calendar. You may miss assignments given in class, test date changes, and you may get behind. You also miss discussions in class that may have helped to clarify difficult concepts. Obviously you miss whatever went on in class, but you also may miss the return of homework or a test that could provide feedback on how you are doing in class. There are several problems created by your lack of attendance or participation that you may not have thought about.
